Abstract
This paper aims to construct the constituent principles of arithmetic / mathematics curriculum in mathematics education. As a result, the present study has adopted the following principles, through analizing a series of the previous study. A. Principles in Setting Purposes of Mathematics Education : There are three theoretical principles in relation to setting the purposes of mathematics education as follo w s. Al. Humanism A2. Utilitarianism A3. Culturism B. Principles in Setting and Arranging Te aching Contents : There are many principles which are relevant to this area. They can be summarized in contrasting pairs, like the follow i ng. Bl. Academism vs Empiricism B2. Logicality vs Psychology B3. Modernity vs Historicity B4. Structure vs Accumulation B5. Spiral vs Grouping B6. Uniformity vs Flexibi lity B7. Division ism vs Integration ism C. Principles in Setting Teaching Methodology : The author pointed out the following four principles. Cl. Associationism C2. Cognitivism C3. Constructivism C4. Situationism
