Abstract

The term withdrawal that occurs on an internal, psychological level, involving phenomena in which the individual loses interest and concern in his or her surroundings, leading to subsequent cessation of internal and emotional interaction. The present manuscript distinguishes between states of realistic/withdrawal and internal/psychological withdrawal, and report on the significance of treatment status in relation to these two types of withdrawal in psychotherapeutic approaches for children and adolescents who refuses to go to school, and those manifesting social withdrawal. This study assessed improvement in children’s symptoms as well as that in mother - child relationship. We believe that it is the psychological treatment provided to a mother that led to the improvement in her child’s symptom as well as that in the mother - child relationship. Accordingly, we concluded that verbal and non- verbal therapies to the mother are essential for the treatment of her child’s attachment disorder as well as for the improvement of the mother - child relationship.
