Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate how children, who are accustomed to the subjectbased teacher assignment system in their elementary school days, feel about their life as junior high school students, and to examine whether this system can be effective to solve the“ Chu-ichi Gap.” According to the results of questionnaires, it turned out that children in the subject-based teacher assignment system are less likely to feel anxious than those in the class-based teacher assignment system. In particular, junior high school students’ anxieties toward learning and teachers make a huge difference between the two groups. As previous studies have pointed out, the subject-based system can lead to the understanding of learning, one factor of“ Chu-ichi Gap.”
